Weaver O Scale Model Trains
Weaver Model Trains is also known as Quality Craft Models
–a company established Bob Weaver and Shirley, his Wife. When established in 1965, the company devoted in producing buildings for model trains as well as 2-rail or 3 rail trains. Initially, they only make plastic based products but eventually moved into brass as demands for sturdier products increased.
It was only during the 80s that the company eventually produced their first O Scale model train. Made of plastic, it was originally made to fit in two rail tracks. However, demand for variety has caused Weaver to build trains for the 3-rail tracks. Later in the decade, Weaver produced its first plastic O Gauge train powered by diesel. Weaver came into full limelight in 1990 when they started production of O Scale that is completely made of brass. Called the PRR M1a 4-8-2 it is one of the rarest products of Weaver
–only 900 of these were made. As pioneers in brass O Scale model trains, their product eventually became a hit.
Today, the Weaver O Scale Model Trains are known as handmade, purely metal model train. It is still however, interchangeable with different train parts with the same scale creating almost unlimited options for model train customization.
